This is a medium sized fruit with a green-yellow skin and a red semi-stripe of 80% of the body. It's flesh is nearly white and juicy. The sprightly McIntosh-like flavor intensifies when refrigerated. Will keep 3 to 4 months in a cool environment. Ripens early to mid-September.
1 can mandarin orange slices
1 1/2 cups diluted orange marmalade
6 fresh apricots
12 dried prunes
6 green canned figs, drained
Drain oranges, reserving 2 tbsps juice; add reserved juice to marmalade, mixing well. Core apples; slice each apple into 6 wedges. Arrange fruits on 6 kabob sticks. Dip into diluted marmalade. Place under broiler for 5 minutes. Serve hot. Serves 6.
